Interview | Amitabha Bhattacharya - Joy Baba Bholenath Bengali Movie (Video)

In this exclusive interview, Subhomoy Mukhopadhyay of WBRi Washington Bangla Radio chats with Amitabh Bhattacharjee at a shooting location for upcoming Kolkata Bengali movie Jay Baba Bholenath.

Actor Amitabh Bhattacharjee

The intelligent young and handsome upcoming Tollywood Bengali and Bollywood actor Amitabh Bhattacharya was born on the 31st anniversary of India's independence from British occupiers. He grew up in Delhi with more exposure to Hindi and English than Bengali, but he successfully taught himself fluent Bengali in just three years, as you will hear in this WBRi Washington Bangla Radio exclusive interview.

Amitabha Bhattacharya performed in a lead role alongside stalwarts like Mithun Chakraborty and Rajatava Dutta in his very first film RAASTA (2003) (BUY DVD) directed by acclaimed dramatist and stage play / film director Bratya Basu. He went on to grab national limelight by his memorable portrayal of Jatin Das in The Legend of Bhagat Singh (buy DVD online) directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

Amitabh has worked with top Kolkata Bengali commercial and art-house cinema directors like Bratya Basu, Haranath Chakraorty, Buddhadeb Dasgupta and Arjun Chakraborty. His 2006 movie SHIKAR by Saran Dutta co-starring Koel Mullick was a super-hit, as was Arjun Chakraborty's 2008 blockbuster Tolly Lights alongside Sreelekha Mitra, Satabdi Roy, Tapash Pal and others.

Jai Baba Bholenath is the story of a village guy, Bhola ( Amitava ) who is a devotee of Lord Shiva. Bhola lives with his mother Gayatri. After passing his school leaving examination, Bhola has taken admission in a City College for higher studies.Chandrani ( Rachana ), who does not believe in GOD and hates Males, is classmate of Bhola. She does not like Bhola and always tries to teach Bhola a lesson as he always overcomes the problem with intelligence and blessings of Lord Shiva. At last Chandrani starts to love Bhola.
