Paramita PalitDr. Paramita Palit is a molecular biologist by profession. Paramita has an inborn creativity from the age of three years when she performed first time on stage and received an award, the list prolonged to a couple of state championship awards in extempore and debate in 2002, 2003, University Championship in 2005 and 2006 in Extempore.

A poet, elocutionist, dancer - all together a multifaceted personality, Paramita feels herself most comfortable as an anchor. She has won various awards in inter-state, inter-college and inter-university competitions in debate, extempore and recitation.

She has trained herself through the workshops conducted by Nandikar, the famous theater group of Kolkata, and has successfully performed in Nandikar Jatiya Natyamela as a child artist.

After pursuing her doctoral degree from University of Calcutta, she has joined NRCPB, IARI, New Delhi as a post doctoral fellow, where she has also performed in various programs.

Being a post doctoral research scientist in ICRISAT (International Crops Research Institute in Semi-Arid Tropics,Hyderabad), she spends most of her time in her research work. She has published her research work in a number of scientific journals of international repute. In spite of that her passion drives her to spend her leisure time with poetry. Her constant inspiration is her mother Krishna Palit and father Purnendu Palit and her little sister Amrita Palit.

Paramita has anchored a number of programs in New Delhi too. Washington Bangla Radio has been broadcasting her recitation recordings since 2010.

In her latest recordings, she has portrayed two historical characters Sreemati and Basavdutta, both disciples of Buddha, in two famous poems of Rabindranath Tagore - Pujarini and Abhisar. Listen to recitation by Paramita using the player at the top of this post.
