18th European Union Film Festival, Hyderabad - Schedule List of Films Timings Venue

12 renowned films are chosen to highlight various aspects of the theme ‘celebrating women'

Hyderabad, India, May 27, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): This year, AISFM has been invited to join Alliance Francaise and Goethe Zentrum in hosting the screenings of the 18th European Union Film Festival in Hyderabad on the weekends between the 25th of May and the 8th of June. The opening film was screened at Prasads Preview Theater on Saturday May 25th. All screenings are all free and open to the public.

The festival theme this year is ‘Celebrating Women’. The chosen films narrate a wide range of engaging stories that explore the lives and experiences of women in Europe, in both contemporary society and over the last century. The festival offers Indian cinema lovers the rare opportunity to see award-winning European films in a real cinema environment at venues that include India’s largest film school - AISFM.

Speaking about the opportunity, Chris Higgins, Vice President AISFM said: “In India, the understanding of European cinema is stuck in a sort of time warp. Film lovers talk about the classic films from 1930’s to 1960’s. However Europe is still making wonderful cinema today and this festival helps us to stay up to date with the latest films.”
