Mumbai, May 5, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): Reestablishing himself a force to reckon , John Abraham ,essaying the character of the notorious Manya Surve in Balaji’s gangster entertainer Shootout at Wadala – proves to his detractors yet again that Action Abraham packs in a punch.

The film that released yesterday created a landmark in the history of A-rated Adult Hindi movies with opening box office revenue collections to the tune of an approximate 10.01 crore.

All praise for the actor says acclaimed critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, , "Leading the pack is, without doubt, John Abraham, who makes the character of Manya Surve come alive on screen. It's a drastic transition for John as he has several heavy-duty scenes to perform and the actor does the switch from an action hero to an able performer with much delight. Call this a coincidence; whenever John has been cast in a negative role, his performance has always stood out (Zinda, Dhoom and Race 2). Now Shootout At Wadala will prove to be the talking point".

Adds Meena Iyer,TOI, “From vulnerable to invincible, from a testosterone wonder to a believable actor, Manya is John’s career's best act.”

Commenting on how the actor is here to elbow out competition says Tushar Joshi, "John Abraham deserves credit for physically and emotionally giving his all to the role. Watching the actor flex those biceps and show his well chiseled torso is a thing of the past, but that slow motion frame where he clings on to a BEST bus is bound to remind all these upcoming lads (likes of Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Sushant Singh Rajput) who they are competing against".

Says John Abraham, “I get the feeling that 'Action Abraham' is far more popular than any other type of Abraham. My action films are mass entertainers”.

Balaji Motion Pictures ‘Shootout At Wadala directed by Sanjay Gupta stars Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Kangana Ranaut, Manoj Bajpai, Tusshar, Sonu Sood, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy, Siddhant Kapoor and a host of others. It released worldwide yesterday May 3rd 2013.
