Calcutta, India, May 14, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) Every individual aspires to dream something great in life and this is this dream that led Ruprekha Banerjee, the now famous Indian Playback singer to be crowned as the winner of FAME GURUKUL. Fame Gurukul was the most popular and the most watched television show in the Indian Film Industry. She was chosen as the Best Fame Gurukul Jodi along with Qazi Touqeer in the year 2005. Her first album Jodi No-1 by Sony BMG (Yeh Pal…) with Qazi Touqeer reached double Platinum in India and over 5 million copies were sold all over World.

Ruprekha is now all set to release yet another album along with Anirban called “Niruddesh Yatra” that was launched on 14th May 2012 at the Press Club. The Bengali Album "NIRUDDESH YATRA" is a compilation of some famous poems of Rabindranath Tagore. The lyrics are that of Rabindranath Tagore, tunes and composition by Anirban and the vocals by Ruprekha, Anirban and others.  Amongst the guests present at the launch were Purbayan Chatterjee, Samidh Mukherjee, Gautam Sushmit, Goutam Ghosal, Rupankar and Indrajit Dey. Ruprekha is extremely excited on this project and feels that the tunes for the poems that have been experimentally composed by Anirban are very much perfect for the lyrics and "Angik" of Tagore-songs. Ruprekha’s intense and magical voice has undoubtedly enriched the Album.

Ruprekha is a versatile singer and with her strong and intense voice can sing all kinds of songs, be it- romantic, rock, pop, classical or semi-classical. She was born on 28th July to a Bengali family, living in Kolkata and Mumbai. She was greatly encouraged and supported by her father for her love towards singing. Ruprekha was educated at Ramkrishna Mission School until the tenth Standard and then at Vidyasagar College, Kolkata.

Ruprekha has won many awards like the “Fame Gurukul”, “Uttam Kumar” award, “Sera Bengali-2006” The “Sananda Adittiya” award, Best Rising Singer 2012 (Kalakar Award), Bondhu Hobe….Best Album nomination (Radio Mirchi-2012). Ruprekha is not only a great singer but also a great human being quoted by the great lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Being a great fan of "The Beatles", Anirban began his music lessons in guitar at a very tender age of 4 years, followed by classes in Rabindra Sangeet, Western classical, Rock music in Spanish and Bass guitar. He formed a school band of his own named "The Beatle Juniors" at the age of 12. The first song he composed in his early childhood was English one named "Tears & Dews".

Presently, Anirban is a faculty member of the Techno India Group (MSIT) and completed his Master degree from Autodesk University as a Mechanical Engineer. About two years back, Anirban released his debut album "Pathure Bhalobasa" with his rock band ‘RAHU’ followed by two original English Albums named "Fragrance of You" and "Paint It Blue". In the year 2011, he also composed five songs for a Bengali movie called "Chupi Chupi Prem Hoye Jay" which is yet to be released.

Ruprekha and Anirban have got all busy with their next project "MAYA".  The “Niruddesh Yatra” has just begun.
