The movie is stylized along the contour of a quite violent love story but in a different milieu.

Trailer: Ishaqzaade (Hindi, 2012)

Ishaqzaade is the story of Parmar Chauhan and Zoya Qureshi belonging to two competing political families fighting for the seat of MLA of the small, bucolic and fictional town of Almor. They detested each other from their childhood but were destined to fall in love. This is Yash Raj Films' first venture in this genre, which is generally associated with directors like Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Jha and Vishal Bharadwaj.

In the fight for supremacy in politics the two kids belonging to main contending families get involved. The protagonist of the film Parmar and Zoya both harbor political ambitions but for different reasons altogether. Parmar wants to prove his worth to his grandfather whereas Zoya is exceedingly ambitious. The bold Zoya falls for the overtly rowdy Parmar. Director Habib Faisal intertwines the issue of honor killing (a rampant practice in small towns of India) with power politics. Will their family as well the villagers accept their relation? Watch this intense love story to know what happens at last.

Habib Faisal has undoubtedly done a commendable work as his writing style and the throw of dialogue makes the film stand out from most of the mainstream flicks. The script of the movie is indeed engaging with the precise and spontaneous narrative. But sometimes it may appear to be too calculated because of the relentless use of colloquial terms.

This was the first venture of star kid Arjun Kapoor and he has certainly made a grand entry in B–Town. The catchy trailers of the movie had certainly created a buzz in the entertainment industry and he had undeniably lived up to all the expectations. He made his presence felt in front of the camera though he needs to work harder to perfect his skills and add vigor to the roles he would play in future.

Parineeti Chopra has done an incredible job and is unquestionably one of the most promising actresses of Bollywood. She plays the role of strong-willed gun-toting girl. Her performance has definitely placed the limelight on her. Her fearless acting and accurate expressions delivered with terrific confidence is really appreciable.

Gauhar Khan played the role of a prostitute called Chand Baby. She is obviously looking absolutely stunning and has enacted her part effortlessly with a lot of dignity.

Amit Trivedi's music is in perfect tune with the plot of the movie. The melodic yet violent and strong title track of the movie is a favorite of the youngster. The cinematographer Hemant Trivedi has done an incredible job to recreate a rustic picture of North India. The background score Ranjit Barot is delightfully perky as well. Along with that, the unrefined and fresh chemistry of the new lead duo makes it a watchable movie for sure.
