Kolkata May 4, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio / Penning Creations) The music launch of Bengali film ’Koyekti Meyer Golpo’ took place at Planet M in Mani Square mall, Kolkata. Some members of the cast and crew were present to mark off the official music album of the latest film by director Subrata Sen, whose earlier credentials include ‘Ek Je Ache Kanya’ and ‘Nil Nirjane’ amongst others. In an earlier interview with WBRI, Subrata Sen mentioned that “(the film) had every potential of taking up the slot of his most favorite celluloid creation”.
The music of ‘Koyekti Meyer Golpo’ has been rendered by Chandan Roychowdhury, who has collaborated with Sen in his earlier films. At the press conference, he never felt short of mentioning the contribution of the director throughout the music scoring process and stressed on the importance of working with a director with a healthy sense of music. He added that the music of the film took inspirations from various music genres and has been composed keeping in mind the mood of the scenes. Some members of the cast also made their way to the venue including Locket Chatterjee, Parno Mitra and Tanushree Chakraborty. While Parno hoped that the camaraderie they shared off-screen would be successfully reflected on it, Tanusree wished that the improvisations in the acting would bear fruit. Both of them spoke of the great time they had on the sets under the direction of Subrata Sen.
‘Koyekti Meyer Golpo’ narrates the story of escort girls frequenting the high-societies of Calcutta. While films with such subjects are rarely dealt with the necessary sensitivity, one would expect some careful handling at the hands of Sen, who has explored bold female characters in his earlier ventures including films such as ‘Ek Je Ache Kanya’, ‘Nil Nirajane’ and ‘Hothath Nirar Jonyo’. The film also boasts of a non-linear narrative structure, a format which still warrants widespread acceptance in the psyche of the Indian audience. Nevertheless, such attempts can always claim attention, if crafted masterfully. Other members of the cast of ‘Koyekti Meyer Golpo’ include Raima Sen, Mumtaz Sorcar, Subrata Dutt and Shantilal Mukhopadhyay. The film would also feature the debut of the young actress Minisha. With such an eclectic cast, one is sure to expect credible performances and fresh perspectives, overcoming the usual clichés associated within the genre.
Speaking to the press at the music launch of his new film, Subrata Sen was candid as he introduced the cast and crew members of the film. Providing the latest update, he said that the film has already been sent to the Censor Board for the final cut at the theaters and should hopefully be released soon without any untoward delays. He was hopeful that the audience would like to see unconventional subjects being portrayed on seen and would gradually open up to unique narrative patterns. The music launch wrapped up with the official release of the music of ‘Koyekti Meyer Golpo’, jointly with the members of the cast and crew.
