Calcutta, May 18, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) Bandemataram 2011, a Bengali feature film written and directed by Sri Joydip (Joydip Chakladar) [interview], is about to get post production started. In a remarkable development, Sri Joydip's script for the film has won an award at the "Scriptfrenzy" International Script Writing Challenge organized by Office of Letters and Light, organizers of The National Novel Writing Month in Berkley, California.

The movie explores concepts of the Sannyasi Rebellion, Bande Mataram the song, India as the mother and Ananda Math in modern social, political and economic fabric of the present day. Legendary Bengali writer and poet Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's song Bande Mataram is at par in India's national anthem, and Chattopadhyay's greatest Bengali literary work Anandamath draws parallels between India as a mother and Hindu goddesses Jagadhatri, Kali and Durga in a broader context of the great Indian famine of 1770 and the Sannyasi Rebellion. This celebration of a motherland free from British occupation was banned by the colonial invaders of India.

Joydip's short film Bande Mataram 2010 which introduced the concepts of the 2011 feature film was screened at the 2010 Kolkata International Film Festival. He is currently also working on Beyond Harvard: The Mind of Nalanda - also expected to be complete and released in later 2011.
