April 1, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) By Sarah Sinclair: Next Wednesday 7 April, during the Easter holiday, Urban Screen will be showing British gangster film DEAD MAN RUNNING at the Albany. The film stars a plethora of talent including 50 Cent, Ashley Walters, Brenda Blethyn, Omid Djilali and duo Tamer Hassan and Danny Dyer. The event will be given extra spice as Tamer Hassan and Ashley Walters will be coming for the Q&A. Ashley has just finished acting on stage at The Royal Court to rave reviews and Tamer is proving himself as a key producer of British indie film. They will have a lot of advice for budding actors and producers and as they originate from South East London it will surely be an atmospheric night. Tickets can be booked directly through the Albany website at http://www.thealbany.org.uk/event_detail/454/Film/Dead-Man-Running. You can also call 020 8692 4446. We will also be showing our high quality short films made by emerging talent. TOP GIRL directed by Rebecca Johnson, won the BFM awards and has just completed its festival circuit. Rebecca is presently developing her first feature with the help of the UK Film Council. Also showing will be WE'RE NOT BLOOD by Ahmet Husseyin. He works professionally on the camera unit on feature films and this short is his directorial debut. Then the following week, on April 13 at The Lexi, Urban Screen will be providing a showcase to award winning independent film EVE directed by Jack Davies. Shot with a Notting Hill backdrop, this powerful thriller tells the story of how a couple's relationship is torn apart when their child is kidnapped. Starring Jaime Winstone, Joel Beckett, Jeff Mash, Jo-Anne Nighy and Jessica Lefteri. The director and the cast will be present for the Q&A session. Tickets are £9 and can be booked directly by clicking through to http://eve.eventbrite.com. Jack Davies is an experienced award winning director. He graduated from Bournemouth Film School, went on to shoot several award winning shorts including A CASE OF YOU, was the only UK finalist to be short listed for the Rolex Mentor Scheme with Stephen Frears. This is his first feature. We will soon be releasing our programme for the Spring and Summer months with some exciting films and exclusive Q&As.
