Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur in Kolkata
Kolkata, April 21, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio) Shraddha Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt and Jeet Ganguli were present at a business center for the Kolkata promotion and press conference of their upcoming film “Aashiqui 2”.
In a backless ghagra choli, golden bangles and long loose tresses, Shraddha Kapoor presented herself as a diva. The golden hue of the dress suited well with her fair complexion. The actress who had the dream of being cast in romantic films from a tender age finally had her dreams fulfilled in this film. “This film is special because after watching Aashiqui, I was so inspired that I wanted to be a part of this film. And look I am in Aashiqui 2. This is destiny”, said Shraddha with a smile.
The actress when asked about her similarity with her character Arohi Shirke said “The first similarity that I find with Arohi is that we are both very traditional. The second similarity is Arohi is a Maharastrian and I am half Maharastrian and half-Punjabi”.
The actress feels that even during the break after the last film “Luv ka the end”, her fans have not forgotten her. The actress added “I know that the people who liked me still remember me. This is evident from the appreciation that I have been getting from the trailer from my fans”.
The songs in the film are magical and she feels it is extremely difficult for her to pick her favorite. She likes one song one day and the next day her favorite song changes.
The story of Aashiqui 2 revolves around Arohi Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor) who is an aspiring female singer. She meets Rahul (Aditya Roy Kapur) who is a famous, self destructive and successful male singer. After a couple of meetings, she starts dating him.
Rahul believes in her talent and helps her to climb the ladder of success. What happens next is the story of the film.
“Who said romance is only for the young people? I do not believe that. Romance is not about age. Romance is the state of the human heart” said Mahesh Bhatt.
Aashiqui 2 is a twenty-first century love story. “This Aashiqui is far better than the one that I made. The audience did not have the maturity during that time and hence the film was made in that manner. Now the audience has matured and this is evident from the themes that Mohit has developed in this new film. Pain, loneliness have been treated in a fantastic way by the director” said Mahesh Bhatt.

The reason why Vishesh films turned away from producing erotic films is due to the fact that the banner was becoming stereotyped by the films which they felt not to be a good point for the banner. To change the perception of the audience about the company, new genre of films are been made.

The banner is focusing more on wholesome family entertainment and hence the decision to make such a passionate and romantic love story.

The actor feels that since this is his first lead role there is immense pressure on his shoulders. He just hopes that his fans love the role that he is playing.
Mahesh Bhatt, Jeet Ganguli
The music of the film has been composed by Mithoon, Ankit Tiwari and Jeet Ganguli. Present at the press conference was Jeet Ganguli who said “Kumar Sanu gained huge popularity with the first Aashiqui. The same will happen with Arijit Singh after this film. He is the Kumar Sanu of this generation.”

Jeet Ganguli regaled the audience with his rendition of the song “Tu hi bata de”. Even Shraddha and Aditya joined him in the song. Mahesh Bhatt carried forward the music by singing “Bhula Dena Tujhe”.
