Kolkata, April 13, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): Internationally acclaimed film-maker Aparna Sen's new Bengali film "Goynar Baksho" premiered in a gala event at Priya Cinema on April 12.
The film is adapted from a story by writer Sirshendu Mukhopadhaya and revolves around a box of jewelry. Priya Cinema was thematically decorated in line with the film. Guests walking in on a red carpet were welcomed with early 20th century decorative elements setting the mood for the period Sen's film is set in. Wall pieces and stylish lights created the ambiance of a royal residence from those times.
The red carpet led to a huge box filled to the brim with recreations of heavy jewelry that was the centerpiece of the decoration.
Many celebrities from the Tollywood Kolkata Bangla movie industry gathered at Priya to catch the best arranged premiere of recent times. Arijit Dutta and Srikant Mohta played gracious hosts as they positioned themselves at the entry point and ushered in guests besides managing the arrangements. Saswata Chatterjee, one of the lead male actors of the film, arrived wearing a well-groomed Bengali look flaunting a snow white Punjabi. He posed with a smaller version of the Jewllery Box for the shutterbugs. Paran Bandhopadhay was just as energetic as one can be and wore an age-defying jovial attitude. Film-maker Kaushik Ganguly also graced the occasion with his better half Churni Ganguly.
The young actor Aryaan who wooed the audience as the child protagonist in ‘Chalo Paltai’ and is set to repeat the feat as ‘Santu’ in Srijit Mukherji's upcoming big-budget film ‘KakaBabu’ was also spotted at the venue.
Directors Sujit Mondal, Ritobrata Bhattacharya and Aditi Roy also arrived to catch the premiere.
Srabanti, who plays a pivotal role in the film, arrived in a sparkling white saree with unusual splash prints. Raima Sen was also spotted among the many Bengali beauties seen that evening. Sudipta Chakrabarty, who plays an interesting cameo in the film, and veteran actor Manasi were seen bonding at the premiere. Shaheb Bhattyacharya was noticed carrying a crutch as he is nursing an injured leg. But that did not seem to deter him from enjoying the movie. Upcoming actor brothers Gourav and Arjun Chakrabarty arrived at the venue with their mother.
