Kolkata, April 12, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): For the people residing in Kolkata, the weather is already too hot to handle. With the rise in temperature and humidity, it is very uneasy for most of the population. Adding to this, the presence of three beautiful ladies, Konkona Sen Sharma, Huma Quereshi and Ekta Kapoor at a prominent restaurant for the press meet of their upcoming film ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ made the mercury level go much higher in the city.

The three ladies were in town as a part of  their twelve city promotion  tour of the horror film Ek Thi Daayan. The film has been directed by Kannan Iyer and based on a story by Mukul Sharma (Konkona’s father). Vishal Bharadwaj and Mukul Sharma have written the story for the film jointly.

In a sequined jacket over a white flowing dress, Huma Quereshi looked dazzling and gorgeous. Her back-brushed hair tied in a neat bun and the pink lipstick further increased her glamour quotient. Huma, when asked how she felt when she was hailed as one of the most promising new comers in the industry, the actress gave a dazzling smile and said “I am very excited that people is thinking so highly of me. It is very flattering. If you watch the film Gangs of Wasseypur properly, I do not have much screen time. But even then if I have been able to make a mark in the minds of the audience, then it feels superb”. When asked about her role in the film, the actress however did not reveal much. “You will seriously feel the horror. This will be a path breaking horror film”, said the actress. The actress who had earlier worked with a Bengali documentary film maker named Anirban Dutta during her college days pointed out that she has a very strong Bong connection. She is working with two Bengali actors - Konkona and Rajatava Dutta in the film. The actress also said that she can understand Bengali.

Draped in a red sari, Konkona Sen Sharma looked like the next door Bengali girl. When asked about her forthcoming back to back releases on supernatural elements (Goynar Bakso and Ek Thi Daayan), the actress smiled and said “The two films are different. The film Goynar Bakso has a comic touch to it and also has a social message in it. On the other hand, Ek Thi Daayan is scary and will scare the audience. They are like two poles of the same subject”. When asked about why she opted for this film, the actress said, “The story on which the film is based is written by my father and hence this is the reason why I signed the film in the first place. Add to that the good producer is another reason why I signed the film. It is not important to make a good film. You also need to promote it well.” Konkona is also working with Rahul Bose in ‘Sesher Kobita’ which will release soon.

The lady in red Anarkali with her careless bangs, Ekta Kapoor was excited when asked about the recent controversy regarding the film. The producer said “The situation is such that tomorrow aliens will come down from space and tell the producer of Krissh 3 that they are showing the aliens in a bad manner. I seriously have nothing to comment upon this issue”. The producer stated that “I love Bengalis and this is evident from my visits to Kalighat temple and also by the portrayal of Bengalis in the serials that I make”. The producer however made a point by saying, “I am not promoting superstition. This is just a story that I thought can be made into a good and entertaining film”. Ekta however pointed out that though the film is based on supernatural, it is purely “Entertainment, entertainment and entertainment”. The music of the film has been given by Vishal Bharadwaj and the producer is happy that the songs like “Yaaram” and “Tote Ud Gaye” is making good impact on the audience. Ekta is busy thinking about other projects that she will be making in future on different topics.

When asked to sum up the film in one word, the three ladies summed up the film in one word “Daini Buri”, which is indeed a perfect name for the film.
