Coffee FM was launched in Kolkata on April 18th at the Lake Road CCD and the venue and event schedule was so much in sync with the theme of the album. The ever so popular Lake Road coffee joint and an evening to chat with friends set the perfect mood for the launch of this very unique album.

This album has songs by some of the most sought after names of the Bangla music scene which includes Sidhu (the voice of Cactus), Rupankar, Somchanda, Tanya and Silajit. Keeping the mood alive through out, the songs have been given names like: “Cold Coffee with Rupankar”, “Café Frappe with Sidhu” and so on and so forth.

The creative mind behind this new concept is that of upcoming lyrist Somnath Ghosal’s. Somnath is one such upcoming literary genius who has to his credit collection of poems that reveal the magic of Kolkata. The lyrics of the songs are the high point of this album which helps the listeners’ harmonize their thoughts with its melodies. Somnath with this album has surely been able to relate to his audience and thus win their appreciation.

Another unique feature of this album is the generous dose of thought stirring lines by RJ Manali and Somnath himself. The recital is completely in sync with the mood of the album which is all about sipping that favorite coffee and pondering over things that just see shape in our thoughts. The music arranged and composed by Indrajit Dey perfectly complements the theme and the mood of the album.

The singers also shared with us their experiences while working on this album. Sidhu was heard repeating that just like his song which is absolutely out of the box and very enjoyable, he had a wonderful experience during the recording sessions. Other singers like Tany and Somchanda were seen echoing the same sentiments that the recording sessions were absolutely fun and they also got to learn a lot from the seniors in the industry.

RJ Manali also seemed quite excited about this extraordinary effort and was heard saying that FM stations should also come up with such unique concepts which will surely have a great mass appeal and will be thoroughly enjoyed by the presenters as well as the listeners.

This young and dynamic group has already come up with an offering that will hold a special place in the heart of many and we wish them all the luck for their future endeavors. And to the listeners we can only say that this is sure to stand out as your best friend in those lonely evenings as well as the beautiful mornings still blurry with hangovers of the last night’s dream.
