Calcutta, April 25, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) Idea Weavers presented the second season of “Gitanjali Lifestyle Kolkata Couture & Lifestyle Fashion Week ( KCLFW)” in association with “The Park” at the Ebony, The Park, Kolkata, India from 14th to 17th April.

On 14th April, Idea inaugurated the show with a promotional by chief sponsor Kingfisher followed by a show by designer Archana Kochhar where she presented her latest creation “Sun Sand and Sangeet”. The collection “Sun Sand and Sangeet”, made with Viscose and Georgette with appliquéd borders in silk and velvet, is a wedding collection for the modern Indian Princess. The vibrant collection of sarees and anarkalis reminded spectators every ritual of a true Indian wedding. That was a truly royal style collection. Most of the dresses were based on white or pink fabric. Famous Bengali film actress Locket Chatterjee (interview) was the show stopper for the day and she walked on the ramp gracefully in a black-pink combined gorgeous royal bridal dress.

On 15th April, the main attraction was the show was a spring-summer collection by “The High Priest of Indian Fashion”, James Ferreira. Before commencing the show, Asmi, the popular brand from Gitanjali, presented a promotional jewellery show, showcasing their exclusive designer collection.

Subsequently, James Ferreira displayed his collection in Kolkata for the first time. The Spring-Summer collection was combined with diamond jewellery by Asmi. James draped the light and airy garments on the figure and they all had a single seam. According to James, he made western garments of oriental nature, specially Indian, using Indian techniques of drape combined with Japanese art of origami. The garments were mainly based on white, black, grey, moss green and teal blue fabric, and are easy and comfortable to wear.

KCLFW was attended by fashion icons as well as celebrities from different cultural field.
