Immediately after completion of his post graduation, Pinaki was approved as FM presenter in All India Radio. He was among the first batch of FM presenters who were selected through a process of written test, interview followed by audition. It is to be mentioned here that AIR, Calcutta was the pioneer in broadcasting such type of talk-shows in India.  Pinaki had hosted talk shows during the period 1997 to 2000 before he left for Bangalore. His FM performances include ‘Aajke Chhatar Gappo’, ‘Bishoyer Sandhane Du Ghanta’, ‘Sakalta’, ‘Tupi, Tupi Ebong Tupi’ and so on. He was highly praised by the media and the mass and said to be ‘presenter of the presenters’. His solo recitation performance was organised by EZCC, Govt. of India & Uujania at Kalakunja. His remarkable solo performance was a trilogy of monologues which include Tamaku Sevaner Apakarita (Anton Chekov, Ajitesh Bandopadhyay) and Nassi (Swarnakamal Bhattacharjee) at Shishir Mancha organized by Aalapon. The other notable recital performance was ‘Chha Fonta Brishti at Jeevanananda Sabhaghar organized by Mrittika in which he shared the stage with Vijaylakshmi Burman and Pankaj Saha. His anchoring performances include ‘Satabdir Pronaam’ at Satabarshiki Hall organized by Calcutta University Central Students Union. He was one of the organizers and performers of ‘Ratbhore Srishti’ at Rabindra Sadan and ‘Kakhon Tomar Aashbe Telephone’ at Shishir Mancha, the first one immediately after death of Gautam Chattopadhyay and the latter one on the first death anniversary of the ‘Gurudev’ of Bangla Band. Pinaki anchored and performed recitation in Jatiyo Abritti Utsav, Bangla Sangeet Mela, Vidyasagar Mela, programs organized by Bhasha O Chetona Samiti, Bhasha Shoheed Smarak Samiti, Sangbed, Mrittika and many other organizations.

Pinaki was awarded ABRITTI RATNA (2004) in a function at Bangla Academy by Padmashree Debdulal Bandopadhyay on behalf of Samantaral for his contribution in recitation and his youthfulness in performance (‘tarunyo r abrittir hridoye hridoy joge korechhen….’).
