Subhomoy Mukherjee writes:
Does the actual name always matter ? May be if it gives fame. Ultimately that name matters which gives a person fame. For example, Uttam Kumar and Ashok Kumar. We are taking the names of two legends of Indian cinema, because we will now introduce the promising director of contemporary Bengali Film Industry, Mr. Riingo Banerjee (রিঙ্গো ব্যানার্জী). Whatever his name, he is famous as director “Riingo”.
Though he is a director, he is a real hero to everybody from actors to technicians of the Film Industry due to his creativity, intellectuality, good behavior, mannerism and charisma.
Born and brought up at Kalyani, a small township near Kolkata, Riingo is creative and truly cultured by nature but in his childhood, he never thought about a career in film-making.
Being brilliant in academics, at the age of adolescence, he shifted his base to Kolkata. After completing his journey of Management skills from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, he has started his career as a management cadre. Being a management cadre, he served his companies at different parts of the World. At that time, when he was attached with Ad World, he was getting interest to direct Ad films by thinking and inputting new innovative ideas in the ad films from the house he was working for.
From there he learned details about Camera and film.
At the time of directing Ad films, he started to direct Tele-films too. Accruing fame as a director of over 600 advertisements as well as telefilms, he suddenly felt the urge to do something different and started to think about directing feature films. In the mean time he has left his job and opened his own production house. Being a Bengali, he has decided to start his venture in Kolkata's Tollywood film industry only.
From his 1st feature film Kranti, he is very conscious about quality and casting and also about crew and he always says that he has got help and cooperation from everybody to complete each of his projects. He always casts the popular megastars but the pattern of his films comes with flavour of films made by Tarun Majumder, Ajay Kar and all those directors who made neither commercial nor so called festival oriented parallel / art-house films but popular healthy entertaining films. Story and Music of his films are very good. The language of his films is the language of Generation Y.
But not only Generation Y, he also thinks of children in the era where number of children films is decreasing rapidly.
He has made “Nil Rajar Deshe” for children even with the risk of being non successful at box office but surprisingly it was a big hit, not only among children but among their parents too !
Then he has made “Love” which is a runway hit of Bengali Film Era. It is also a milestone in the career of Riingo as it has made the director household name.
Right now his film “Jodi Ekdin” is counting days to be released commercially.
According to Riingo, Jodi Ekdin can be considered as a sequel to Love as both the films are based on human relationship, better to describe as ups and downs of matured love relationship.
Right now Riingo is judging one reality show and from there he is thinking the story line for his next film.
Though Riingo considers himself very homely and introvert, he is popular among all of the film industry for his down to earth nature and recognized for his talent.
Our best wishes for a higher successes are with Riingo Banerjee and his films.
