KITES Hindi Movie PosterMar 6, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) The director of the Hollywood blockbuster Rush Hour - Brett Ratner - watched an unfinished cut of upcoming Indian Bollywood Hindi movie KITES starring Hrithik Roshan and Mexican actress-model Barbara Mori and saw situations reminiscent of Brett Ratner's own film RUSH HOUR (Special Edition DVD) starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in lead roles, reports Anupama Chopra in the New York Times.

"So Mr. Ratner, who until then had seen only a few Hindi films, offered to re-edit “Kites” and make it more accessible for mainstream America. Working with Mark Helfrich, his editor on the “Rush Hour” series and “X-Men: The Last Stand,” Mr. Ratner pared the 118-minute film to 90 minutes. He lost some of the elements that “just wouldn’t translate,” including a song sequence featuring Mr. Roshan, and had the dialogue for all the characters, except the two leads, dubbed by American voices." according to the report.

The release date of KITES is May 21, 2010. Both the Bollywood Hindi musical and the edited international English version of Kites will be released on that day.
