DEV, Koel, Raima, Bangladeshi Bibi Russel and others to walk the ramp at Eastern India Fashion Legacy Kolkata

Kolkata, March 11 (Washington Bangla Radio) - Eastern India Fashion Legacy is all set to debut in Kolkata as multiple big names of  the Bengali film industry like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jisshu  Sengupta  and his wife Nilanjana Sengupta, Raima Sen, Koel Mullick, Parambrata Chatterjee, Abir Chatterjee and Moon Moon Sen will be seen walking the ramp. Reports indicate Bengali superstar Dev too will join the star bandwagon to support the initiative which is the brainchild of actor and exhibitor / proprietor of  Priya Entertainments  Pvt. Ltd. Arijit Dutta.

Bibi Russel from Bangladesh will represent her country. The model turned fashion designer who is credited for taking her nation to the global map of fashion is still the biggest icon of Bangladesh.

A press conference was held recently to announce the fashion fiesta. Top designers of the city Agnimitra Paul, Abhishek Dutta, the designer duo Mona - Pali  and Sharbari Dutta along with the organizer Namit Bajoria and mentor Arijit Dutta were present at the press meet.

Arijit Dutta said on the occasion, "Eastern and North Eastern India Fashion Legacy will bring together the top designers of Eastern India, Nepal and Bhutan on one platform. I have always felt that in spite of possessing immense potentiality, Eastern parts of the country and the adjacent countries like Nepal and Bhutan rarely come to limelight when it comes to fashion."

“We have requested the designers to bring out the flavours of  the east while designing the collections. We also have asked them to use fabrics that have their origins mainly in the east”  he added.

Veteran designer Sharbari Dutta said, “I will be presenting a brand new range for men which will be an amalgamation of tradition and modernity.”

Mona Pali duo, who are regarded as one of the pioneers who took India to the global scenario of fashion, will be presenting a never seen before collection of  linen and jute.

Agnimitra Paul has promised to present a summer range revolving around Ikat. The collection will  mostly have simple cuts, loose fits and bright colours.

Chandrika Tamang from Bhutan will showcase a vibrant collection of raw silk and cotton. Chimmi House of  Design, another top name in the  fashion arena of Bhutan will exhibit textiles hand woven in traditional Bhutanese back strap loom. Atsu Sekhose will present an evening wear which will merge the East and the West through prints, colours and motifs.

Former Miss India Universe Ushoshie Sengupta who has been instrumental in getting the biggest talented people together from Eastern India and also from the neighboring countries is the Talent and Event Curator for the show. Former model and popular show choreographer Noyonika Chatterjee will be the  director and choreographer of the show.

Presented by Kutchina , the fashion show will also see some popular models like Krishnanvraj, Jatin Khirbat, Saurav Jha, Amit Ranjan, Deepti Gujral, Alisha Rawat, Chahat Sabaji, Jaspal Kaul, Shila Tiruchi and Sidni Shankarwar putting the ramp on fire.

The event will take place on 12th and 13th  March 2016 at Hyatt Regency in Kolkata.
