Dhaka, Bangladesh (Washington Bangla Radio): Today, 22 March, 2013, a day long Mobile Development Contest – Final Round was held at BRAC Inn, for selecting the Top Ten mobile Apps contesters. Ethics Advanced Technology Limited (EATL), a leading application developer in the country, launched and officially inaugurated its nationwide Talent Hunt program for Mobile Apps on 17 November 2012. On this occasion a welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed, CEO, EATL, amounting and M. A. Mubin Khan, MD, EATL, was present at the contest. The initiative has intrigued a massive response among the brightest talents who are representing the innovative, new-edge topnotch technology from various private and public universities, to a total of 200 concept notes from participants.

This initiative of EATL Apps competition would be a milestone for searching the brightest talents in ICT sector for brining innovation and usefulness for Bangladesh in order to support the national digital goal. EATL has taken bold step towards bringing participation from all walks of life, brightest talents of youths, IT professionals, development partners and business sector.

This successful event along with strategic vision with young generation and professionals will facilitate to bring innovation and opportunity in Bangladesh for entering into a market worth of 30 billion mobile apps throughout the world. Contestants are bringing new ideas, thinking out of the box, ahead of world growth in technology, carefully addressing the financial viability and its usefulness that is key for Bangladesh.

The juries were Associate Prof. Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman, BRAC University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rajesh Palit, NSU, Asst. Prof. Yusuf Sarwar Uddin, BUET, and the Chairman of the Jury Board was Prof. Kaikobad, BUET. A total of fourteen teams presented their innovative mobile apps from the team of AIUB, followed by RUET, BUET, NSU, Ahsanullah University of Science & technology, Jahagirnagor University, MIST, Dhaka University, Mangoes Mobile Inc., CUET, and SUST. They have presented power point presentation to share and explain the mobile apps focused on several sectors like, Agriculture, Education, Health, Life Style, Tourism, Games and Utility.

It could be mentioned that, today’s final round was conferred and would consist 70% of the total marks for the Final Contest. These apps and software would be uploaded in internet for the public users to determine which mobile apps is more users friendly, culturally sensitive, useful and has more market demand by choices, which would add up the rest 30% of the total marks of this contest. EATL would conduct a Grand Finale on 30 March, 2013, at Winter Garden, Hotel Rupashi Bangla, with top ten Finalist Teams with Government policy makers, donors, ICT professionals, social dignitaries, parents of contestants and NGOs/civil societies. The prize money for the First place would be half a million BDT, and the 2nd and 3rd place winners would receive 2 lacs and 1 lac accordingly. And the rest top ten teams would receive smart phones and would have a job opportunity at EATL with various assignments.
