Kolkata, March 22, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio) Haranath Chakrabarty broke his usual trend of making out and out commercial movies with ‘Chalo paltai’ which dealt with the sensitive issue of modern education system and burden of expectations put on the tender shoulders of children. The movie starred Tollywood superstar Prosenjit and got much critical acclaimation and did decent business at the box office. Haranath continues venturing into newer areas with his latest project - the supernatural film Chayamoy.

Based on a novel of same name by Sirshendu Mukherjee, the film is expected to target children. The cinematic adaptation of the novel is expected to follow the story closely: A young research scholar discovers a centuries-old testament in which he finds hints to the location of hidden treasure of the king of Simulgarh. After a long and tedious search he finally finds some gold coins at the desolated palace but those are eventually snatched away by Gagan Sapui, a wealthy but cruel and nasty person of the village. Sapui beats up the scholar and dumps him in the forest, leaving him there to die. But a ghost named ‘Chayamoy’ was watching all this and helps the scholar. The scholar then plans to get the treasure back as he learns that Gagan Sapui is going to melt the gold coins to make jewelry out of them. The rest of the film is about the retrieval mission of the gold coins which have immense historical value.

The film will see the father-son duo Sabyasachi and Gaurav Chakrabarty coming together on the big screen for the first time. Gaurav will play the role of the young scholar while Sabyasachi will be seen in the title role of the supernatural ‘Chayamoy’ the ghost. Dipankar De will be seen in the negative role of Gagan Sapui, the antagonist of the story. Veteran actor paran Bandopadhay will also be seen playing an interesting character which will contribute a lot to the plot.

The film also stars Shantilal Mukherjee, Nimu Bhowmick, Romen Chowdhury, Debesh Roy Chowdhury and host of other actors.

Chayamoye features some interesting CG Visual Effects some which you can watch online in the trailer below.

The music of Chayamoye is directed by Debojyoti Mishra who joins hands with the popular lyricist Srijato who penned the lyrics of the songs. Shouvick Basu is the cinematographer of the film and it will be interesting to watch how he has canned the shots, especially the portions of the film which were shot in Birbhum distric of West Bengal.

One of the most interesting aspects of the film is an dance item number song featuring Tollywood diva Rituparna Sengupta who performs a mujra dance in the song.
