Kolkata, March 16, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): Leading director Raj Chakraborty's new Kolkata Bangla movie "Kanamachi" premiered in a glittering closed-door event at Priya Cinema theater on March 15. The evening was brightened up by many celebrities from the Tollywood Bengali film fraternity.
Abir Chatterjee plays a challenging role in the film. He was one of the first to reach the venue. Bright in a sports T-Shirt, he reflected his ascending career and exuded confidence about Kanamachi.
Raj Chakraborty was ushering in guests and gladly posing for lensemen. Sometime ago Raj was disappointed on the prolonged delay in wrapping up and releasing the film but he was obviously very happy that evening. The arrival of upcoming Bengali actress Mimi Chakraborty added to his joy.
Ankush plays the male protagonist in the film. He arrived dressed in a smart black shirt, making us wonder if keeping that top button open was due to the hot weather or was intended to make the weather hot.
The always-smiling dazzling actress Srabanti Biswas took the avatar of a swan draping herself in smart designer casual white. The lady herself also seemed in an unwinding mode. She laughed and chatted with her companions throughout the screening of the film. Her husband Rajib Biswas and son were also present at the occasion.
Actress Sayani plays the second female lead in Kanamachi. Sporting a ruby red dress, her excitement was infectious. One of the most energetic persons present, she interacted with journalists and mingled with guests spontaneously.
The heavy attendance by Kolkata Bangla movie personalities who cheered and clapped all through the closed-door screening of Kanamachi surely heralds great success of the film. Expect the film to have the "Raj Chakraborty" effect of pulling in great numbers of viewers into the theaters.
