Bengali Actress Richa Ganguly - Heroine of Kolkata Bangla Movie Bikram Singha
Calcutta, March 22, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) Eskay Digilabs, a leading film and television production company in Kolkata, has announced their next Bengali film titled "Bikram Singha: The Lion is Back".
Bengali movie lovers fondly remember actor Jeet's portrayal of inspector Dibakar Singha in Raj Chakraborty's Shatru (2011) [WBRi Interview] which also saw the Tollywood debut of actress Nusrat Jahan (WBRi interview). Shatru was also a Eskay Movies production and is the Bengali adaptation of Singham.
The role of fearless cop Bikram Singha will be essayed by superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee (WBRi Interview). The heroine is Richa Ganguly who is well-known in South-India films who recently celebrated her 26th birthday.
Reports indicate Bikram Singha is a Bangla adaptation of S.S. Rajamouli's Telugu superhit action thriller Vikramarkudu (2006) starring Ravi Teja and Anushka Shetty, which is also being adapted into a Bollywood Hindi film directed by Prabhu Deva titled Rowdy Rathore starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha.
Starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha titled Rowdy Rathore, the Bengali version of the film titled Bikram Singha is making haste to be ready and released before the Hindi version. Something that it’s lead actor Prosenjit Chatterjee openly admits when speaking to the Mumbai Mirror. “We’re indeed doing a Bengali remake of the same Telugu film that Rowdy Rathore has been adapted from. My film Bikram Singha, is being directed by Rajeev. It is produced by Eskay Movies.

Bikram Singha is directed by Rajib. Music is by Shree Pritam. Playback singers include Bappi Lahiri, Shaan, Kumar Sanu (WBRi Interview), Mahalaxmi and Mamata Sharma - the latter of "Munni Badnam Hui" Bollywood item song fame who is rumored to sing an item song to be accompanied by a item-number dance by a Bollywood starlet.
