Anamitra Roy Lauches Innovative ONE RUPEE FILM PROJECT

The One Rupee Film Project

Calcutta, March 2, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) Anamitra Roy, a founding member of the Little Fish Eat Big Fish indie film production group of Kolkata, who we had an opportunity to talk with in this interview, has recently commenced on an innovative concept production titled "The One Rupee Film Project".

The idea is to make a full 90-minute feature-length film that does not look towards support from traditional movie producers and distributors. The film will be supported by contributions of film-lovers and made with donations received. The minimum amount of donation is only one rupee but of course one can contribute more if one feels generous.

One can also make absolutely no contribution and wait for the film to release to watch it for free! But, as Anamitra says, "you better contribute some amount in order to make sure that the film gets made". He chimes in at the official project blog, "The response is quite good so far as I've reached 50 in less than 24 hours. Sriparna is helping me a lot like she always does. I was thinking to add her up as a co-director of the film. She has lived through the story just like me."
