‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ is the next teenage ishq story

Mumbai, March 12, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / Kreation Guru) Actor turned director Roshan Abbas is all set with his maiden directorial venture ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ that will hit the theatres on June 17 this year. As the director puts it, it is a story about teenagers and their fun filled experiences in the last year of school. Roshan seems to be extremely delighted with the project and more so as Shah Rukh Khan himself has backed him up! Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment would be producing the film.

Director Roshan Abbas was keen on introducing some fresh faces in his first film. He has managed to rope in debutant Zoa Morani for the lead role of Aishwarya Dhawan in the film. Giselli Monteiro of Love Aaj Kal fame would be essaying the role of Nandini. The two male leads opposite them are debutant Satyajeet Dubey and Ali Fazal (who played the role of Joy Lobo….he sung ‘Give me some sunshine’ and quit his life the very next day in the film Three Idiots!). They play the characters of Sameer and Tariq in the film. The plot of the story revolves around these four individuals in high school and the crests and troughs that they undergo in their life and relationships.

According to sources, the plot of the story is based in a school in Delhi. Teenagers in Delhi schools have been in focus recently because of scandals that loomed the news channels. The director confirmed that the film does not delve into controversial matters and producer SRK was clear about this from the very beginning. SRK has been a part of the creative team of the film and has worked towards keeping the film young and away from any controversies.

Shah Rukh, though would not be a part of the cast of the film, is said to be featuring in an item number that has been especially thought about for this project. With Eros Entertainment backing the release of the film, Roshan is confident that Always Kabhi Kabhi would get a global platform. The music of the film has been composed by music director Pritam and the dialogues have been written by Ishita Moitra.

The story of the film is based on a theatre act ‘Graffiti’ that was directed by Roshan Abbas himself in the 90’s. Seeking inspiration, Roshan decided to turn it into a film. He says that the film has a freshness associated to it and addresses teenage issues in a positive manner. He adds that he is quite optimistic that youngsters would be able to relate to the situations shown in the film. There were recent rumors that mentioned that Zoa Morani who is daughter of Karim Morani of Morani Brothers, has been roped in for the film due to closeness between SRK and the Moranis. Director Roshan Abbas negated the news and revealed that Zoa was auditioned and she was the first actor who was selected for the film.

Shah Rukh Khan is a busy producer. Always Kabhi Kabhi is close to his heart. Here’s hoping that Always Kabhi Kabhi manages to bring the ‘youngistaan’ definitely to the theatres!
