It has as its plot the life of pick-pockets in the thickly populated bazaar of Mumbai, and the politics involved in it. This bazaar lies behind the Crawford Market today, in South Mumbai. Interestingly, the name ‘Bhindi Bazaar’ originated during the British times. They used to refer to it as ‘behind the bazaar’. This was picked up by the natives as ‘Bhindi Bazaar! It is well-known for hardware and antique items and is always very congested. Everyone, both the sellers and the buyers have a greed for one another s’ money. For this reason there is plenty of deception prevalent in its streets.

Ankush Bhatt had been observing and studying the pickpockets there for some time. He found them to be very intelligent who enjoy fooling others to their gross advantage. So he went on to direct the movie with their lives as the theme of the movie.

The movie brings into focus gangs who have developed the art of pick-pocketing as a livelihood. Their intelligence and sharp presence of mind enables them to enjoy their self-styled yet dangerous profession. The movie begins with a game of chess being played by two men. It shows how each one aims at reaching the other end of the board. It shows how ‘Fateh’, a pickpocket, moves to fulfill his ambition of becoming a local area don referred to as ‘mamu’. This picturizes their aim in real life; how they commit crimes, even going to extremes of taking others’ lives. Politics, domination, unauthorized commands, intelligence, betrayals, all play their role in the film.

The movie has been shot in 35 days only, with just 22 days spent in Bhindi Bazaar! It is all set to be released on 15th April this year.
