In his “thank you message” posted on his website, Rahman also thanked his “mentors”—Maniratnam, Shekhar Kapur, Subhash Ghai, and Andrew Lloyd Webber; his “friends”—Karan, Gopal, Vijay, Deepak Gattani, Mohan Chopra, Chris and Simon Long; Almighty; music teachers; Danny Boyle; Fox; his agents Sam Schwartz and Amos Newman;  his mother, father, sisters, “lovely” wife, and children; etc.

He started the “message” with: "Insane, eh? I never even dreamt about winning all these awards” and ends with: “Jaiho India...!"

Rahman won Grammys for the best compilation soundtrack and the best motion picture song categories for his music in Oscar winning “Slumdog Millionaire” (Danny Boyle) at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles (California, USA) on Sunday night.


Well known Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, applauded Rahman for taking the Indian music to new heights and bringing respect and global recognition to Indian film music.
 
Rahman, who has reportedly recorded sales of over 300 million, was called “Mozart of Madras'' by Time magazine. Rahman sees music “as a way to connect to spirituality and embrace it” and for “creating harmony in troubled times”.
