Kolkata, India, Feb 19 (Washington Bangla Radio) - Kolkata based designer Abhishekh Dutta and top model turned actress Satarupa Pyne recently came together at the announcement of a brand new beauty pageant titled Miss India Beauty 2016.

Satarupa Pyne who recently had her big Bollywood debut in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar Girls said, “It is really good to see so many platforms coming up to spot and nourish fresh talents. There are lots of potentialities hidden in Bengal. Who knows that we may even get our next Bipasha Basu or Sushmita Sen from this pageant.”

Abhishekh Dutta said on the occasion, “We are really looking forward to discover new talents. Participating in a beauty pageant like this also helps in grooming of the participants. It also boost their confidence and communication skills which helps them in other aspects of their lives too.”

Organiser Krishnendu Mukherjee of Silver dream Entertainment, who is the principal organizer of the event was also present on the occasion. Krishnendu Mukherjee said, “The basic objective of such a beauty pageant is to create more opportunities for aspiring models create a platform to help them participate in international contests as well. Also the proceeds from this contest would go to the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative by the government.”

Of all the applicants, an initial selection of 50 participants was done. Out of these 50 participants, a total of 20 girls were chosen for the finale.

The finale for the Eastern zone will be held on the 21st of February, at 21st Century Studio, Merlin where the top five finalists would be chosen, who would make it for the grand finale to be held in September. The top three finalists would be crowned and awarded cash prizes. The remaining participants would be given certificates of participation.

The remaining zonal auditions would be held in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Jaipur respectively.

"The grand finale on 21st February will be a gala event to remember. We are expecting the presence of a huge number of glitterati from the city. It will mark the beginning of a new era in the fashion arena of Kolkata," promised Krishnendu Mukherjee.
