The poem ‘Pujarini’ By Tagore performed on stage



Mumbai, February 03, 2015 (Washington Bangla Radio): Pankaj Mullick Music and Art Foundation staged the dramatic adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's poem Pujarini to mark the beginning  of 110 th birth anniversary year celebration of the legendary music composer- singer Pankaj Kumar Mullick at Satyajit Ray Auditorium, recently.

The production repleted with high production values, songs, elocution, choral chants accompanied by special effects, dance and shadowgraphy.

 Script has been made by Rajib Gupta ( Grand son of Mullick ), Songs were performed by Jhinuk Gupta ( grand Daughter-in-law of Mullick) , Haimanti Basu was responsible for choreography.

The interesting part of the performance was the poem Pujarini was performed in form of a song, tune set by Pankaj Mullick. Mullick was the only composer who was given permission to set tune to Tagore's lyrics and poems by Tagore himself.

Songs like Bhoy hote Tabo, Ashanti Aaj Hanlo, Ami Bhoy Korbona, Pran Bhoriye besides Pujarini composed by Pankaj Mullick were performed by Jhinuk Gupta to portray the storyline.

It was also featured the relaunch of the official website on Pankaj Mullick. Alaknanda Roy and veteran folk singer Amar Pal were felicitated.
