Mumbai, Feb 22, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio / jotzoom.com): An exciting evening awaits all Rani Mukherji fans.

The second episode of UTV STARS’ Yeh Hai Meri Kahani witnesses a rather candid and nostalgic Rani Mukherji. She wore her heart on her sleeve and spoke at length about her journey in the film industry.

Rani Mukherji’s journey in the film industry has been heart-warming to say the least. She always wanted to be a fashion designer and ended up being an actress because she couldn’t afford the fees for the fashion designing course, which was 3 lakh rupees.

It was then that her mother insisted that she try her hand at acting. Her aunt, Debasree Roy, was an established actress in the Bengali Film industry at that time. Rani decided to take up acting as a career, Producer Salim asked her to go through a screen test in Mamta Kulkarni’s clothes from Baazi.

Thus began Rani’s journey in Bollywood. She acted in several movies post that but claims that the movie ’Ghulam’ was the changing point of her career. She also mentioned that during the shooting of ‘Ghulam’, Aamir Khan named her ‘Engine’.

This is because there was a scene that demanded both of them to hug each other and despite trying thrice, either Rani would fall on Aamir or Aamir would fall on her. Finally, Aamir decided that Rani must be called ‘Engine’.

To find out this and lots of other interesting details of Rani Mukherji’s inspirational journey in the Hindi Film industry, tune in to ‘Yeh Hai Meri Kahaani’ on Saturday, 24th February 2013, at 7pm only on UTV STARS.
