Kolkata, February 23, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio / Penning Creations) Curtains came down at the sixth edition of the Streax Unish Kuri Glam Hunt as leading models took their glittering crowns with the assurance of a direct ticket into the competitive world of modeling. ITC Sonar Bangla once again stood witness to a dazzling display of both Indian and Western fabric collection from Sasya and ace designer Soumitra Mondal. The staggering wait was finally brought to an end with Abhishek Lama and Ekta Mukherjee adjudged Glam King and Glam Queen respectively.

King of sarcasm Mir was in charge of the microphone on the ramp on Wednesday as he introduced the ten finalists one by one who were selected out of 1000 odd modeling aspirants. The ten finalists of the evening had to go through rigorous sessions of grooming with model Shonal Rawat that included catwalks, photo sessions, wardrobe fittings and a lot of other focused activities. The event kick started with the ten models walking down the ramp in several rounds that tested their ease factor with the clothes they wore. The event was jointly judged by leading Tollywood beauties Payel Sarker and Parno Mitra along with celebrated fashion designer Shantanu Goenka and popular singer of the Cactus band Sidhu.

The first introduction round saw the models drawing peals of applause from the audience and wearing a designer collection of white summer wear by Soumitra Mondal. One could see sheer passion and a sense of zeal on the faces of the participants as they mesmerized the audience with their captivating looks and confidence.

The second round drew the loudest cheers as the models personified how grace and elegance would look like by dressing up the Indian way. The wardrobe fittings were seen to be classic and in perfect sync with the accessories worn by the models. Moving on to the third round, the audiences at ITC Sonar Bangla were introduced to the cocktail version of Western wear. Moving away from the traditional bastions of slick black fittings, the girls were seen to be decked up in bold shades of green and peach colour varieties. The colours were certainly seen to be making a strong statement that the fashion industry has always welcomed the use of interesting innovations and novelties.

The event also had a dose of the entertainment factor with June Banerjee becoming the star singer of the evening. She had the audiences crying out for more with her foot tapping numbers such as ‘Batashe gun gun’ and ‘Rolling in the deep’. But the loudest screams were reserved for the final song of the evening ‘Chikni Chameli’ from the movie ‘Agneepath’ that was made iconic by fellow Bengali singer Shreya Ghoshal.

With entertainment making its way out, fingers were crossed and the anticipation levels went soaring high in the hall as it was time for the results to be declared. In various categories, Abhishek Lama was adjudged the Mr. Glam Face, Harshit Arora the Mr. Glam Hair and Abhishek Roy as the Sasya Style King. Among the ladies, Ekta Mukherjee won the Ms Glam Body, Amrita Ukil the Sasya Style Queen and Onindrita Sarkar bagging the award for Ms Glam Eyes. On overall account of the various categories, the top honours certainly went to Abhishek Lama and Ekta Mukherjee as Unish Kuri Glam King & Glam Queen, thus ending hours of speculation.

Sreax Unish Kuri Glam Hunt has acted as a landing platform for these talented youngsters as with this renowned pageant a world of fascinating opportunities has opened up for these very glamorous and focused individuals.
