Kolkata, February 22, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) Modeling seems to hold quite a fascinating position when it comes to career choices among today’s youth or how else can you explain that overwhelming response and loud cheers for Avishek Lama and Ekata Mukherjee, as they won the title of Glam King & Glam Queen respectively in Streax Unish Kuri Glam Hunt 2012 powered by Vicco SF. Organized by teen magazine Unish Kuri, the grand finale of the event was held in ITC Sonar Bangla.  Judges for the evening were leading Tollywood actors Payel Sarkar and Parno Mitra, front man of renowned Bangla band ‘Cactus’ Sidhu along with celebrated fashion designer Shantanu Goenka who decided the fate of 10 glamorous aspiring models for the sixth year of Glam Hunt.

Streax Unish Kuri Glam Hunt 2012 powered by Vicco SF was rolled out on 1st of this month when 10 finalists were shortlisted from a crowd of almost 1000 aspirants. The aspirants’ portfolios were varied, few students, few working professionals and few amateur models but all of them showed the same passion, to make it big in the cut-throat modelling arena. After a rigorous grooming session by nationally renowned super model Shonal Rawat, which encompassed sessions on beauty, catwalk, photography, wardrobe management and more, the contestants invariably managed to show their confidence and that extra edge on the finale.

The audience got the first glimpse of the participants in a dance sequence choreographed by Prasanna Saikia. All the finalists were formally introduced by Mir after which they walked the ramp wearing collection by ace designer Soumitra Mondal. Then the contestants were outfitted in both Indian and Western wears in two different rounds by Sasya. 

As an anchor for the pageant’s finale, Mir was an instant hit. June Banerjee was the star singer for the evening. She got the crowd grooving in few of her Bengali and Bollywood hits.

Glam King Avishek Lama and Glam Queen Ekata Mukherjee will get modelling contract from Hygienic Research Institute, the parent company that owns the brand - Streax. In addition to this, they will also get a chance to feature on the cover of Unish Kuri.

Shashank Arora, the Glam King of 2007 and Roja Dey, the Glam Queen of 2008 have went on to become the leading names in the modelling fraternity of the city.
