IT raids on liquor baron close to Maya

New Delhi, Feb 1 (IBNS) The Income Tax sleuths on Wednesday raided the premises of liquor baron Gurpreet Chadha, also known as Ponty Chadha, who is believed to be close to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.
At least 17 premises of the liquor baron in New Delhi and Noida were raided, reports said.
The raids were carried out by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of Income Tax department and it included his farmhouse.
According to a CNN IBN report, Chadha is the only liquor distributor in Uttar Pradesh and it quoted IT sources saying he was selling the bottles at prices above MRP (Maximum Retail Price) and was sharing the spoils with the politicians.
The liquor baron has prospered under the regime of Mayawati and acquired many property and business, it is alleged.
