Washington DC, Feb 27, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) Bisakhjyoti Majumdar - who is popularly known as Bisakh Jyoti - is a rapidly upcoming song writer, music composer, music director and singer from Calcutta. Bisakh Jyoti is the playback singer for the title song of Bollywood superhit film No Problem (2010), which was also his first Bollywood venture. He was the 2007 Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa second runner up and the 2010 Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2nd runner-up, and the only Bengali singer in that contest to make it to the top three among the hundreds of thousands of contestants.
Bisakh has loved singing and listening to songs all his life, and had dreamed as a child of being a playback singer. He considers this a proud moment of his life to have come third from among thousands of initial applicants from all over the world. The move from competition singing to professional singing in Bollywood was achieved through help of his mentors at Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. The title song of No Problem was recorded by the entire team of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, and then three singers were short listed, out of which his singing was chosen for the title song. Bisakh reminisces about the excitment and nervousness of that experience, where the team also had a lot of fun as they tried to prove themselves the best in a spirit of playful competitiveness.
Bisakh’s philosophy is that one cannot sit on one’s laurels, and needs to keep improving and challenging oneself to do better. His next engagement is as a student; as one of the top three competitors in Zee TV‘s program, he is the recipient of a scholarship from A.R. Rahman’s Institution and will be spending the next couple of years submerged in technical training and music education, including training in Western genres like Jazz and Blues.
Bisakh intends to continue to do his best in his singing career, continuing to bring his audience worldwide the joy of his art.
