Subhomoy Mukherjee reports from the Kolkata premiere of "Jiyo Kaka" Bengali film in his unique Bengali-style English.

Bengali Movie Jiyo Kaka Premiere

[JIO KAKA Tollywood Kolkata Bengali Movie Poster]Calcutta, Feb 12, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) Parambrata Chattopadhyay (Wbri interview), the renowned actor of Tollywood arranged premiere of his directorial debut, Jio Kaka at Priya, South Kolkata.

The premiere of that feature film was attended by many renowned cultural personalities of Bengal like Sudeshna Roy, Avijit Guha, Sohag Sen, Srijit Mukherjee, Chaitali Dasgupta among others.

Most of the cast and crew were present there including Parambrata himself, Rudraneel, Rituparna, Aviraj, Aditi, Mayukh, Mainak and others.

The film is a compact one (duration is 120 minutes) which has a trendy story line regarding "film within film".

But Rudraneel has written this narrative-styled story in different way as this film, scripted by Parambrata and Aditi, is telling the facts regarding struggles of Tollywood.

“Jio Kaka” is a beautiful sketch of new prodigies of any film industry who hardly get a chance due to lack of experience and connections.

It’s a story told by Asif (Rudraaneel) about himself as assistant scriptwriter and his friends; junior actor  Amit (Aviraj) and sub assistant director Ritwick ( Rahul ).

The film is about making of a film by those three guys which somehow matches the real life of those guys.

Though Rituparna plays a pivotal role in the film, there is no such hero or heroine in the film but the story line is the real hero as it portrays negative side of the film industry very well and the different aspects of the underworld.

Rituparna, Rudraneel, Rahul, Aviraj, Shilajit, Kanchan, Biswanath, Sashwata and others are very good in acting.

Locations specially Santiniketan in moonlight, Music by Neel Dutta and background score by Mayukh and Mainak are good too.

Hats off to Parambrata to make his debut with a film showing the other side of the film industry. So the film is definitely different from the rest. Watch the full Kolkata premiere coverage video of Bengali movie Jiyo Kaka on Washington Bangla Radio.
