Bengali movie ‘Paapi’ all set to capture the limelight!

Kolkata, Feb 10, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / Kreation Guru) The new genre of Bengali movies is expected to see a lot of new actors from different parts of the country. One instance of this would be seen in the upcoming Bengali film ‘Paapi’ that is slated for release on February 11, 2011. The film would be a launch pad for Bollywood actor and veteran actor Raj Babbar’s son, Arya Babbar in Tollywood. The film is being directed by Aziz Sajwal from Mumbai who has also directed films like Chalo Ishq Ladaye (2002), Chhupa Rustam (2001) and Hero Hindustani (1998). ‘Paapi’ would be his Bengali directorial debut.
Besides Arya  Babbar, the film also stars Tollywood ‘badshaah’ Prosenjit besides sexy actress Sayantika Banerjee (of film ‘Hangover’ fame), Rajesh Sharma and others. Pooja Bharti, the popular Telegu Film actress would also be seen for the first time in Bengali films. The film is being produced under the banner of Raj Entertainment and producer Sanjay Roy is making sure that everything goes well for his upcoming project.
The plot of the film revolves around real life incidents based on cyber crimes. Arya Babbar would be seen in a negative role whereas our own Bumba da would be playing the role of a police inspector who would be fighting out all evil on screen. The film is a ‘must watch’ for all action lovers as there would be a number of intense action scenes and stunts that are being planned for the film. The story has been written by Aziz Sajwal himself which would be complemented by steamy dialogues authored by Debashish Basu.
The film has been illustrated with brilliant musical scores by music director Shubhayu and lyricist Priyo Chattopadhyay. Melodies have been sung by Bolly artists Kunal Ganjawala, Shaan, Javed Ali and Sadhana Sargam. Exotic locations of Vizag, Araku and Haridwar have been chosen as shooting locations for the film besides some scenes that would be shot in Kolkata itself. Early last week, the music launch of the film was held in HHI in Kolkata and the event saw all the cast and crew of the film in all smiles for the film.
A similar film titled ‘Paapi’ was also directed by director Prabhat Roy  back in 1990 that starred Chiranjeet, Debashree Roy, Abhishek Chatterjee, Dipankar Dey, Indrani Dutta, Pallavi Chatterjee and others. Whether this would be a re-make of the older version or not, still remains unrevealed. It remains to be seen how the Bengali audience reacts to an action film from Prosenjit after his offbeat movie Autograph and Moner Manush. It seems Prosenjit, who is lovingly known in the Bengali film industry as Bumbada is going through a successful stint as a creative actor. In the recent past, he has portrayed different characters on the big screen with efficiency and ease. The movie “Paapi” will bring back the angry action hero Prosenjit on screen, ably supported by cast and crew representing different parts of India.
Hope such cross learning continues to exist in Tollywood and Bengali films like this, go a long way towards enrapturing audience world wide.
