Anurag Kashyap's No Smoking Hindi Movie - Baba Bengali Sealdahwale's Prayogshala


No Smoking Hindi Movie Poster Anurag Kashyap presented the Indian cinema lover with a greatly polarizing film in No Smoking. It was loved by some, hated by some, both with passion, and ignored by none.

Anurag Kashyap, in his blog, says this movie of his is very personal, and arrogant - the film is all about an arrogant man living life his own way meeting an even more arrogant man.

The film has fantastic music and songs, great camera work, wonderful locations and top-grade acting performances. Boldly departing from mainstream Bollywood, the film displays remarkable intelligence and demands thoughtfulness and analysis by the viewer.

Official synopsis: K is so addicted to smoking that is has become impossible for him to live without it. However, he gets a rude jolt when fed up with her husband's craving for cigarettes, his wife, Anjali walks out on him never to return unless he quits smoking. It is then he decides to do something about his obsession. He goes to meet Baba Bengali Sealdahwaale, who runs a 'Prayogshala' - a centre for rehabilitation from all sorts of addiction and afflictions. When he meets the Baba; he walks into an agreement he can't walk out of. Proud and desperate, K throws caution to the wind and challenges the Baba's diktats. However, he realizes that he can't escape Baba no matter what he tries. Until of course the contract is complete.
