JABAB DAO - Lyrics, Music, Composition: Shankar Bhattacharjee

Shankar Bhattacharya, born in Burnpur at the IISCO managed Burnpur Hospital, is the youngest of four children. His three elder sisters are married. Shankar's father has retired from IISCO. His mother, the sweetest person of his family, unfortunately passed away in 2006. Shankar currently lives with his father in Vaishno Tower in Burnpur.

Burnpur is a historic steel city in India, close to the town of Asansol. Burn & Co. promoted The Indian Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. (IISCO) in 1918. G.H.Fairhurst is credited with having founded the plant at Burnpur. The first two state-of-the-art blast furnaces went into operation in IISCO in the early 1920s. Unfortunately, primarily due to militant trade unionism and technological obsolescence, IISCO is today only a distant shadow of its WW-II era glory.
