Palash Dey has been very enthusiastic in poetry recitation as well as writing poetry since childhood. He wrote his first poem and a story in school during Class 6.  He participated in many recitation competitions at schoolPalash Dey, college and other places within the state of Assam, from where he belongs. Palash was born at New Bongaigaon, Assam. He is now a student of BA PT. II in Bengali honours at Bongaigaon College under Gauhati University.  

He had been much inspired by his mother, Smt. Sandhya Rani Dey and got in touch in the groove of poetry recitation as well as both writing poems and short stories in Bengali. His mother used to take him to participate in the recitation competitions since his childhood. He is also inspired by Mr. Nimu Bhowmick, the Script writer of the ETV Bangla Channel, Kolkata.   

He attended the “Bishwabanga Sahitya O Sanskriti Sanmelan” held in Kolkata in November, 2009, of which he is a central committee member, and he recited his own poems there. Besides, he recited his own poems at various Poetry Sanmelan in Assam. He is interested in Classical & Vocal music, Rabindrasangeet, Nazrul geeti, Bengali and Assamese Folk songs.

He is a regular contributor to the Bengali literary magazine “Prantik” organized by Nikhil Banga Sahaitya Sabha, Kokrajhar, Assam. He has also been freelancing in some news papers.
