Kolkata, Jan 9 (Washington Bangla Radio) - The team of upcoming Bengali movie Chorabali came together to launch Gallery Green - a new art gallery in Kolkata city.

Tollywood Bengali showbiz beauties Tanushree Chakraborty, Locket Chatterjee, Sayani Datta and Malobika Banerjee who are all part of the ensemble cast of Chorabali brightened up the event.

Director Subhrajit Mitra and actor Shataf Figar who plays a dynamic cop in the movie were also present at the occasion.

Agatha Christie steps into Tollywood with Shubhrajit Mitra's Chorabali

During the inauguration of the Gallery, Subhrajit Mitra revealed the extensive use of paintings as a promotional tool. He said, “Through the posters of Chorabali we have tried to bring back the art of canvas painting and we stand for promotion of art and craft in the world of cinema. Therefore the synergy is only natural.”

"The movie’s mounting is also very different. We have used different tones and colours to make it look larger than life and bring the essence of a thriller. The posters have also been created to give it a brush stroke feel," Subhrajit added.

Speaking on the occasion Vinod Thakar, CMD of India Green, said: “We believe building houses is very much an art form. Therefore our indulgence in promoting arts is natural.”

“Gallery Green is approximately 700 sqft neatly curated space currently holding over 50 paintings and art installations. The biggest USP of the gallery is its virtual online version on the internet through which all paintings and artifacts are reflected digitally for viewing and sales,” Vinod Thakar added.

Amitava Samanta, director of India Green, said on the occasion, “Gallery Green is a unique art gallery that is aimed at giving exposure to the new and talented artists along with the veterans and the famous. The artifacts are also priced reasonably so that people with taste for art and craft but with limited affordability can take home their buy.”

“Coming up with this Gallery is part of our CSR project. We want the money raised from selling the paintings to go to the upcoming painters to help them pursue their career,” Amitava Samanta added.

CHORABALI (Bengali, 2016) is a suspense thriller starring Barun Chanda, Tanushree Chakrabarty, Shataf Figar, Samadarshi Dutta, Locket Chatterjee, George Baker, June Malia, Dipanjan Basak, Tathagata Banerjee, Malobika Banerjee, Sayani Datta, Mou Baidya and others. The film is written by Sanjib Banerji and directed by Subhrajit Mitra. Joy Supratim is the cinematographer, Sujay Datta Ray is the editor and Dibyendu Mukherjee is the music director.

Chorabali is presented by Pradip Churiwal under the banner of Macneill Engineering who have been manufacturing forklifts in Kolkata since 1964 and who brought us the well-received Byomkesh Bakshi (Dhritiman Chatterjee) feature film Shojarur Kanta (Bengali, 2015) directed by Saibal Mitra and co-starring Indraneil Sengupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pradip Mukherjee (as Ajit), Sonali Gupta (as Satyabati), Kaushik Sen, Biswajit Chakraborty, Debdoot Ghosh, Dwijen Mukherjee, Kanchana Maitra, Nilendra Dewan, Subrata Guha Roy and others.
