Soumitra Chatterjee Event

Kolkata, January 13, 2014 (Washington Bangla Radio): Soumitra  Chatterjee, an enigma who caught the imagination of many since past 54 years. Fascinated by the legend and his legendary work, compelled me to make a determination to gift my icon an hour long documentary film. ‘Ray’s Apu’  is a tribute to the living Legend “Soumitra Chatterjee”, the prodigy of Oscar awardee Satayajit Ray. Music of the Film is By Susmit Sen, the founder of “Indian Ocean Band’.

Soumitra Chatterjee, a Padmashree, a Padmabhushan and a  recipient of the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award, has an international  acclaim. The legend has been conferred with the ‘Officier des Arts et Metiers’, the highest award for arts given by the French Government and life time achievement award from Italian government.

On 19th jan 2014, internationally acclaimed artist Sri Soumitra Chatterjee is entering his 80th year. To honour one of India’s most celebrated and greatest actors of his generation, the R.A.I.D Group of companies, is organizing a mega Pan-India event on 17 th May 2014 at Siri Fort Auditoriumas a tribute.

The highlights of the festival include the launch of the much awaited documentary film, ‘Ray’s Apu’, followed by a theatrical adaptation of Satyajit Ray’s ‘Apu trilogy’, followed by a short interactive session with the legend himself. The event will close with a performance of the music scores of the documentary film by ‘Susmit Sen Chronicles’.
