London, UK (Washington Bangla Radio) Bollywood royalty and Nawab of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan promoted his upcoming film Race 2 in London last week. The Cocktail star took out time from his London holiday and kicked off the promotions at London’s Hippodrome Casino, Leicester Square.

Saif happily posed for photographers at the photo call at the prestigious venue before he spoke to the British media at a press conference.

Talking about the challenge of playing the same character again, the 42-year-old actor said: “The main challenge would probably lie with the script writer and the production house to try and make a better movie than the first one. Sequels have become quite fashionable now if a film does well. In the 90’s, I did a film called Main Khiladi Tu Anari. I suggested to the producers that we should make a sequel. They told me that we don’t make sequels in India and that it was a very silly idea and I should not mention it again.

“Now it seems, as people follow trends, almost every film that does well gets a sequel. Not every film deserves a sequel as some stories are complete in themselves. However, this is a genre and script that lends itself well to a sequel,” added Khan.

Saif Ali Khan, who tasted Box Office success last year with his London set film Cocktail, also spoke about filming in British capital.

“We (Illuminati Films) have made four films and shot two of them here – Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail. I feel that London is a second home. There are many benefits of shooting in the UK. One of the drawbacks, of course, is that once you have filmed here, it might be difficult to shoot something new. I don’t agree with that though because there are many sights to London. It’s an amazing city and very multifaceted. I look forward to shooting my next film here,” said Saif.

Speaking at the Press Conference, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, Adrian Wootton, said: “Following Film London’s trip to Mumbai in November when we accompanied the Mayor of London to invite the Indian industry to shoot their films in London, I am delighted to welcome the star and producer of Race 2 to the capital. We are delighted the production has chosen London to launch the second film in this successful franchise; in my opinion this fantastic city is the perfect place to launch a movie. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet Mr Saif Ali Khan, who I know was in London shooting his latest film last year, and while they are here, I will do my best to persuade producer Mr Jaykumar Shewakramani to shoot his next film in the UK capital!”

Head of India, London & Partners, Sunil Dwivedi, added his support saying “We are here very much welcoming India to the UK. India has been the second highest investor of businesses in the UK after the US and we would like to extend our full support for film companies like yours to work with the UK”.

The Race 2 London City Visit was sponsored by The Hippodrome Casino, Jemca Car Group, Travelpack, Chak89 and The Washington Mayfair Hotel.

Race 2 is set to release in UK cinemas on 25th January 2013.
