Pratim D. Gupta Receiving Best Film Award
The annual ceremony is one of the oldest award shows in Kolkata and previous winners comprise everyone from Mrinal Sen to Rituparno Ghosh, Rani Mukherjee to Farhan Akhtar. This year's awardees included Boman Irani, Farah Khan, Shoojit Sircar and Amala Shankar, who won the lifetime achievement award.
Paanch Adhyay is a romantic drama starring Dia Mirza in her first Bengali film opposite Priyanshu Chatterjee. The film has music by Shantanu Moitra with the chartbuster soundtrack featuring Subha Mudgal, Shreya Ghoshal, Swanand Kirkire, Shaan, Ash King and Usha Uthup.
"You don't make films to win awards but this kind of recognition from your peers is very special," said Pratim, who's also written Paanch Adhyay. "Bengali cinema is going through a resurgence phase and if I am being able to do my bit, that's extremely fulfilling."
Last October, Paanch Adhyay had made it to the Mumbai Film Festival as New Face in Indian Cinema and was also picked as the Centerpiece Premiere at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York.
