Kolkata, Jan 10, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio) Tollywood hero Jeet is expected to continue his remarkable streak of Indian Bangla movie box-office successes with his next film “Deewana” where he appears opposite actress Srabanti who is no less well-known in delivering super-hits.  The film is directed by  Ravi Kinnagi, whose last film “Awaara” also starring Jeet brought in record collections as well.

Producer Boney Kapoor made a pleasantly surprising appearance at the event and made some exciting announcements. He will produce a Bengali remake of the Bollywood comedy blockbuster “No Entry”, following an acute interest shown by Jeet. Boney Kapoor and Jeet share great rapport as the owner and the captain of Bengal’s Celebrity Cricket League Team ‘Bengal Tigers’. Jeet said he would like to play the role portrayed by Salman Khan in the Bollywood original. Incidentally, Salman Khan recently signed up for a sequel to “No Entry” in Hindi, titled “No Entry Mein Entry”.

The “Deewana” OST has six well-performed tracks. The title song is written by  Priyo Chatterjee and performed by Prosenjit Mallick, Nilakshi Bhattacharya and Bob Steven.

The track ‘de signal’ has been performed by noted Assamese singer Zubin Garg, June Banerjee and Dev Sen. The lyrics, penned by Prosenjit Mallick, contain a few Hindi phrases as is fashionable in commercial Bengali film songs these days.

The heart-touching romantic number ‘Jege Achi’ is rendered in the melodious voices of Prosenjit Mallick and Dipannita Choudhury. Prosen takes the credit for the romantic words in the song.

‘Baja Sanai’ is a festival dance number in the film, written by Sudip and performed by Abhijit Bhattacharya, Nilakshi Bhattacharya and Dev Sen.

Prosenjit Mallick has written the song “Mahi ve” as well as performed the Mezzo-Soprano centric number.

Renowned singer Shaan (Shantanu Mukherjee) has performed in a reprise of the title track along with June Banerjee and Bob Stephen, with a few variations in the lyrics.

Jeet was all praise for his Deewana co-star Srabanti who could not attend the event. He has delivered many successful Kolkata Bangla movies with her and said Srabanti has evolved much from the days of her debut film ‘Champion’ (also with Jeet) and her confidence has increased manifold. Their chemistry has also become very strong having worked in so many films together.
