Interview: A Musical Evening with Canadian-Bengali Singer Paromita Mukherjee

Paromita Mukherjee on WBRiCalcutta, Jan 3, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) On behalf of Washington Bangla Radio, Soumitra Talukdar talks to Canada-based Bengali singer Paromita Mukherjee in this candid and informal musical video interview in Kolkata.

Paromita started  learning music even before school. She learned  Rabindra Sangeet at the famous Dakshini music school in south Kolkata. Later on, her husband’s job took her all over the world and she performed at various shows, some with famous Indian singers like Sonu Nigam and Usha Uthup. Paromita has also performed all over India and overseas.

Paromita has participated in popular television shows like Sa Re Ga Ma and Antakshari International in the early 1990s in  New York and New Jersey. She has fond memories of having worked with Sonu Nigaam, Annu Kapoor and Shefali Chaya who were the hosts.

“Music and I are still inseparable and given a chance I would still showcase my talent and would love to be a part of this wonderful musical faculty”, she said. “I have returned to India for a couple of years now, and am looking forward to continuing my musical journey and taking  it to a different level”.
