Tapan Sinha wrote the story and script and composed music for Teen Murty. However, his health did not allow him to proceed with making the movie.

The project was taken over by Raja Sen, an acclaimed film maker by his own right, and a huge fan of Tapan Sinha's style of direction which Raja Sen has attempted to deploy in some his own movies.

"Teen Murti" (Three Friends) is a story about three retired friends - Naren, Nagen and Nobin – who walk in the morning together. The film is a beautiful depiction of how they transform their unhappy and painful post-retirement lives into a purposeful, respectable, happy and busy one by opening a tea stall. 

Ranjit Mallick, Dipankar Dey and Manoj Mitra play three retired gentlemen around who the movie is based. They are supported by Sabitri Chatterji, Joy Mukherjee, Paoli Dam, Papiya Sen, Kanchana Moitra, Chaitali Chakrabarty, Rishi Mukherjee, Subhasish Mukherji, Rupali Mukherjee, Dipak Das and others.

The film not only provides wholesome entertainment for viewers of all ages but also carries a strong social message. It carries a positive message that age is only a number and unloved senior citizens can also lead meaningful lives once they retire from active service. Teen Murti also reminds the younger generation never to underestimate the power, wisdom and experience of the older generation.
