Mumbai, Dec 23 (Washington Bangla Radio) - Prakash Jha jokingly said at the Jai Gangaajal trailer launch, “Priyanka Chopra has become much in demand in the US and the FBI has also recruited her. They contacted me and told me to train her for the role. So we gave her a crash course (laughs) and look how proud she has made us all.”

Quantico's FBI Agent Alex Parrish has indeed made an international impression. Portrayed by Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, the smart and agile sleuth holds her own in the American TV show. Chopra recently admitted her experience in playing a bad-ass gun-wielding kick-fighting lady cop in Prakash Jha's Jai Gangaajal helped her immensely in preparing for her character in ABC’s television crime-thriller series.

Chopra spent her teen years in the United States, and her US single In My City featuring will.i.am was wildly successful in India and got her considerable attention in the USA.

Chopra agrees with her director. “He is actually right. Because I did this film right before Quantico, it prepared me to play an FBI trainee and it became easier for me to work on that show. I can very happily say that I have been trained by the IPS for Quantico.”

Chopra shot for Jai Gangaajal right before she started working on playing Agent Parrish with the Quantico unit. She gets into the skin of Indian Superintendent of Police Abha Mathur in the Bollywood film. The role is very different from the soft, sweet and  unpresuming Kashibai in Bajirao Mastani.

Written and directed by Prakash Jha, produced by Prakash Jha Productions and Play Entertainment and co-produced by Milind Dabke, Jai Gangaajal revisits the dusty heartland of Central India where corruption, lawlessness, land grabbers and high rate of farmer suicides abound, and examines society - police relationship, especially complicated by the presence of a perceived soft lady cop. Starring Priyanka Chopra, the movie is all set to release on 4th March, 2016.

Jai Gangaajal shares nothing more than part of it's title with Ajay Devgn's Gangaajal - it is a fresh story. Watch the theatrical trailer of Jai Gangaajal.
