Mumbai, Dec 14 (Washington Bangla Radio) - In a candid interview, ace film-maker Rakeysh Mehra opened up about the Aamir Khan controversy and said that he doesn't know anyone more patriotic than Aamir. The ace director of "Rang De Basanti" believes whatever Aamir said was misrepresented and misinterpreted.

Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan Aamir Khan plays the dad of two international wrestling champion girls from India - Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat in Nitesh Tiwari's biographical sports film Dangal expected to open late 2016. Geeta Phogat picked up the gold medal as India's first female wrestler at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Babita Kumari won the silver.

He stressed on how the majority of the Indian people are battling with their day-to-day problems. People struggling with their real-life issues have been confused by the tolerance versus intolerance debate.

Mehra had only good words for Aamir. “I know many politicians, army officials, friends; Aamir would rank in the first three amongst the most honest Indians that I know. Listen to what he's trying to say. He's concerned about the country. He is saying something, and then the sort of comments that have come about, I can't even mention the comments that have come.”

He emphasized the importance of not shutting a voice down in a free society, to look in the mirror and accept shortcomings.
