Hanoi, Vietnam, Dec 10 (Washington Bangla Radio / Epigramonline): After implementing prudent economic policies, Vietnam has made remarkable strides in alleviating poverty. The country's poverty rate is now below that of China, India, and the Philippines.

Indian film-makers at IFFV 2015

The country will host the first Indian Film Festival Vietnam (IFFV) in Hanoi from December 18, aiming to bridge the entertainment industries of the two countries. Entry to the film festival is free.

Three award winning filmmakers from India, producer of hit films like Saheb Biwi aur Gangster, Saheb Biwi aur Gangster Returns, Bullett Raja & Revolver Rani - CEO Wave Cinemas Rahul Mittra and directors Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra and Umesh Shukla will open this six-day fest concluding December 23. The venue is the acclaimed National Cinema Centre, Hanoi.

The festival will, of course, showcase films from or about India. The line-up includes

  • Paheli
  • Jodhaa Akbar
  • Dil Chahta Hai
  • Maqbool
  • Taare Zameen Par
  • and more

The Indian filmmakers will also attend a seminar on "Vietnam - India Cinema Cooperation and its role in Promotion of Tourism" and will be taken across Vietnam's major cities in order to offer its exotic locations for future film shoots.

Apart from top Vietnamese Government functionaries, the film festival will also see the presence of India's ambassador to Vietnam Preeti Saran.

Aimed at offering the Vietnamese community an opportunity to learn about India's multi-faceted culture and long history of filmmaking, IFFV is curated by Capt Rahul Bali and R C Dalal.
