Robinhood Pandey or better known as Chulbul Pandey, played by Salman Khan is back with Dabanggg 2. The film is a true sequel to the enormously successful film Dabanggg, which was released in 2010.

This time the story is set in Kanpur where Inspector Chulbul Pandey gets transferred at. He moves there along with his family. The film opens with the kidnapping of the child of a promoter and Chulbul Pandey, as expected makes an entry with style. He beats up the bad guys and rescues the child. He gets rid of the kidnappers and returns the child to his parents.

This is similar to the beginning of the earlier film, Dabangg. The story line has nothing new to offer to the audience. Arbaaz Khan has merely copied the scenes and has presented them with newer characters and in slightly different scenarios.

The storyline moves forward and Chulbul Pandey gets into a conflict with Baccha Bhaiya (played by Prakash Raj) the top gangster of Kanpur, as their paths crossed.

Arbaaz Khan, as the director has not contributed much to the creativity of the film. The film has almost a similar plot to the earlier one. The director has not even tried to change the flow of the film and has kept it almost same as the earlier film. The sequences which followed from the stepping of Chulbul Pandey into Kanpur to getting in a fight with the villain to finally taking revenge for some personal loss is just all similar. The plot is mediocre in nature is one of the more overused one.

The characters in the film who have gained much limelight are Pandeyji and Chaubeyji in the course of the film. As Chulbul Pandey’s aides they have shared maximum frames with the main character. Arbaaz Khan, as an actor is likeable as the simple brother of Chulbul pandey. Vinod Khanna does justice to the role of Chulbul Pandey’s father. Sonakshi Sinha (as Rajjo ) throughout the course of the film looks pretty, a lot of  credit to her stylist for draping her in those designer Indian wears. She does not have to act and even in the most emotional scenes she is not convincing enough. She still wins heart with her back-showing (a perfect backdoor entry to fame). Prakash Raj plays the role of Baccha Bhaiya superbly. He looks menacingly villainous. He is the only actor who can compete with Sallu in stealing the show.

Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey seems to be having a blast with this role. He seemed to have perfected the role of the carefree police officer. He giggles, plays pranks on his father, sob at the loss of his unborn child and show anger and  demonstrates all the emotions with great expertise. This makes the character so likeable to the viewers. The automatic pelvis juggling belt buckle dance is a great treat for the lovers of this Khan. At times Salman looks old than the role that he is playing. However the natural charm o the actor helps him to carry the role with great perfection.

The songs in the film ‘Dagabaaz re’, ‘Saanson ne’ are the romantic numbers and they passes with decent marks. The songs ‘pandeyji seeti’, ‘fevicol’ se or the Dabangg reloaded are the fast tracks in the film and they are already big hits. The much talked about item song ‘Fevicol Se’ which has by Kareena kapoor as the item girl is catchy indeed.

The dialogues in the film are witty and will evoke laughter from the audience. Some of them are “maa ki jhuti kasam nahi khate, jhutie saale”, “waqt tumhara kharab aaa hain aur din hum gine” are some of the examples of witty dialogues mouthed by Chulbul pandey.

On the whole Dabangg 2 is entertaining. A lot of ‘Seetis’ and ‘Taalis’ will be finding their ways into the theater halls.
