Life! Camera Action… to premiere in India

Camera Action…New York, NY, Dec 22, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) The Capital’s first international film festival, Delhi International Film Festival (DIFF) 2012 is set to screen internationally acclaimed film Life! Camera Action… on 23rd December at the NDMC Convention Centre on Parliament Street, New Delhi. The festival was inaugurated on 21st December by telecom minister Kapil Sibal. Sibal addressed the media and shared his fondness for Amitabh Bachchan’s films.

Life! Camera Action… (facebook), a film co-written, directed and produced by award winning NRI filmmaker Rohit Gupta has been causing a buzz across the world since 2011 and since then has garnered over 70 international film festival accolades and awards.

Life! Camera Action… tells the story of a young woman ‘Reina’ who decides to pursue a career in filmmaking against all odds. Gupta filmed the project in New York in ten days on a Panasonic DVX 100 with two crew-members and features an award winning song by renowned singer 'KK'. The project evolved from 15-minute assignment while studying at New York Film Academy marking it as the first feature film shot with a 2-member crew by an Indian Filmmaker that has connected with the audiences worldwide. Gupta's first film, a 4 minute short, Another Day Another Life, shot in seven hours was an official selection at the Short Film Corner - Cannes 2009.

DIFF 2012, which will conclude on December 27 this year, will showcase an amalgam of 174 films from 32 countries. Centenarian and veteran actress Zoya Sehgal will be conferred the Minar-e-Dilli award at the extravaganza, which is scheduled to play host an eclectic mix of filmmakers from around the world. The festival is being hosted to mark 100 years of Indian cinema and of Delhi becoming the capital of India.

The film festival board is being chaired by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, and comprises Anurag Kashyap, Shriram Raghavan and Yashpal Sharma.
